Bio:

In 1999 MSc in Environmental Engineering, University of Florence (Italy). 3 years consultant based in Italy. 8 years in Belgium, Ph.D. (2006) and post-doc at Ghent University. From 2010 independent consultant with Waterways, based in Italy then in Croatia.
16 years of experience in modelling of integrated wastewater systems (sewers, treatment plants, rivers), control, optimisation and upgrade, probabilistic design, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis.
Chairman of the IWA Working Group on Modelling of Integrated Urban Water Systems.
Secretary of the IWA Design and Operations Uncertainty Task Group.
Author of >40 peer-reviewed journal papers and >100 conference proceedings.

Bio:

Dr. Jeremy Guest earned his B.S. from Bucknell University (2005) and his M.S. from Virginia Tech (2007), both in civil engineering, and his Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Michigan (2012). Dr. Guest is currently an Assistant Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where his research program focuses on the development of technologies and decision-making tools that increase access to, and the sustainability of, environmental infrastructure. His primary focus is on sanitation and the development of biotechnologies that manage wastewater as a renewable resource for energy production, chemical production, nutrient and water recovery. Dr. Guest currently serves as the Thrust Leader for Sanitation and Resource Recovery for the Safe Global Water Institute and the Environmental Sustainability Lead for the USAID Soybean Innovation Lab.

Bio:

I am a scientist in urban water management, interested in numerical modelling of drainage and supply systems including systems analysis, uncertainties and model calibration. I try to understand consequences of upcoming challenges as climate change or aging infrastructure and find solutions for adaptation, mitigation and rehabilitation. I see urban water systems as integral part of the city and they need to be analysed in the context of a constantly changing environment.
